ERBIUM LASER RESURFACING____________________

Ablative Erbium Laser - A deep resurfacing treatment that dramatically enhances skin tone and texture.

Treatable Concerns: Tone, Texture, Acne, Pore Size, Sagging Skin, & Fine Lines & Wrinkles

A moderately invasive procedure that yields better results in fewer treatments, Erbium laser resurfacing, also called Erbium YAG, produces an airbrushed effect by wiping out sun damage, melasma, and rosacea while clearing acne and reducing acne pore size, tightening skin, and softening fine lines and wrinkles.

How Does it Work?

Think of the Erbium laser treatment as a combination of a deep peel and a resurfacing laser. The ablative Erbium laser uses intense heat to vaporize damaged skin cells while simultaneously creating new healthy cells, stimulating collagen production, and improving elasticity for a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance.

What Does it Feel Like?

A numbing agent is applied 45 minutes before your treatment. However, Erbium laser treatments can still be uncomfortable due to the heat component. The procedure takes between 15 - 30 minutes, depending on the size of the area, and cooling packs are applied to the treatment area immediately after.

Is There Downtime?

Proper aftercare is essential with Erbium laser resurfacing treatments. You may be hot, swollen, tight, oozing, or scabbing in the hours and days following the procedure. For the first 72 hours, clients should wash their face with a gentle cleanser every five hours and reapply an antibiotic ointment followed by an emollient (like Aquaphor) to keep skin moist and prevent scabbing. Redness and bruising can persist for up to two weeks. Clean your skin with room-temperature water only. Sweating and makeup applications should be avoided until the skin is healed. Clients should apply sunscreen daily to mitigate the risk of irregular skin pigmentation.

How Do I Prepare for My Treatment?

Clients should avoid significant sun exposure in the weeks leading up to their Erbium laser procedure. Deep peels or facial treatments should be avoided for one month before the ablative laser. Exfoliating acids, retinoids, or Vitamin C should be discontinued four days before treatment. We recommend that you bring a hat to your appointment to keep out of the sun on your way home.

When Will I See Results?

The full results of Erbium laser skin resurfacing will develop as your skin heals. You can see dramatically improved tone and texture in as little as a week! After just one treatment, your skin will look smooth, refreshed, and luminous. Multiple treatments may be required for deeper or more severe wrinkles, acne, scarring, or pore size. Overall, the ablative Erbium laser requires less treatments to achieve desired results than most resurfacing lasers.
